Many of Sederberg’s ideas combine widely diverse mediums and concepts to create original innovations. The traditional “Christmas/Holiday Tree” has already gone through quite a metamorphosis throughout history. (Wikipedia/Origins of Christmas tree is a very interesting read!) The latest major popular evolution has been the creation and refinement of the artificial tree. (See “Pros & Cons”)

Windfall Trees take the holiday tree into totally new directions, not only for environmental considerations, but also in the creative, medium-melding fashion that exemplifies Sederberg’s body of work.

New Traditions with a Twist
Below are some fun variations on the Windfall Tree. These all include the same design for inserting real tree branches in the trunks. If you have your own idea for a Windfall Tree, we can custom build it just for you.

The Zig-Zag Tree

The “Zig-Zag Tree” is a very contemporary minimalist design, both in trunk style and the amount of branches needed to complete the look. All lighting and garland is wrapped around the trunk with tufts of multi-species branches and decoration emerging from each zig and zag. The top is finished off with a fun and playful decoration to finish off this unique, contemporary tree.

The Poinsettia Tree
Having seen trees with fake, plastic poinsettia decorations and or large red bows, I wanted to recreate the look using real poinsettias. Windfall trees are beautiful without any extra ornamentation. This tree, in particular, could be decoration-free. Six living 4” inch potted poinsettias are featured in this design. Multi-species branches emerge from each ring to give jubilant, layered appearance. The depth and beauty of this design combines a classic look with contemporary styling that evokes both simplicity and elegance.

The Levitating Tree
This is a fun one! With this design the tree appears to levitate or float, confusing and entertaining all who see it. There is no trunk to support the different levels of the tree. At the same time, the multi-species branches only add to the mystery and amusement of guests.
